Jeffrey has excelled at the West Australian Pianists Competition (WAPC) 2024, winning the Overall Junior Best Performer Award, Premier Bach Award, Age 12 and Under Recital 1st Prize, and Age 10 and Under Recital 2nd Prize. Won the Grand Prize & Special Prizes in the 2nd International Paderewski Piano Competition for Children and Youth

Jeffrey participated in the final round of the 2nd International Paderewski Piano Competition for Children and Youth. The results are out now, and Jeffrey won the Grand Prize (the maximum score in his age group competition) along with several Special Prizes, including the Gyorgy Ferenczy Foundation award in Budapest, awarded by Prof. Izabelle Darska-Havasi (Hungary), and the special award from Prof. Marek Zebrowski (USA).

International Chopin Winners' Concert

Multi-City Concert Tour in Poland

In May 2024, Jeffrey performed at the 31st International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition Winners’ Concert in Szafarnia, Poland. He was also invited to perform a solo recital at the Karol Szymanowski Music School in Torun, Poland, organized by Magda Cynk (Honorary Medal of the Mayor of Toruń). Additionally, Jeffrey performed two concerts at the Warsaw Capital Center for Cultural Education. He also performed public concerts at Marriott Hotel and Chopin International Airport in Warsaw.

Jeffery achieved an outstanding 4th place in the prestigious 31st International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition for Children and Youth! For his age group, there are 6 winners from 1st to 6th places and Jeffrey is 4th.

Winner: Fremantle Eisteddfod Competition 2024

Jeffrey won the 1st prize in the Age 10 and Under (JS Bach) Category with 96 marks at the Fremantle Eisteddfod Competition 2024.

He also won a 3rd prize with 97 marks in the Age 13 and Under Category.

BIO

A Young Prodigy's Journey

Jeffrey Shield (ATCL Dist.) is a 10-year-old pianist from Perth, Western Australia, started piano lessons at 6.5 years old with Dr. Dobromiła Jaskot from Poland, continuing until 2022. Since January 2023, he has been studying under Ivy Chan at the YSL Music School, where he is now pursuing LTCL diploma-level studies. By the age of 9, Jeffrey passed the ATCL Piano Performance Diploma Exam from Trinity College London with Distinction.
In the past 3.5 years, Jeffrey has won many awards. He earned the top Grand Prize and special awards at the 2nd International Paderewski's Piano Competition for Children and Youth in Poland and won 4th Prize at the 31st International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition for Children and Youth in Szafarnia, Poland. He also took first place in several competitions, including the Fremantle Eisteddfod, West Australian Pianist Competition (WAPC), North of Perth Music Festival, Fastest Learner Competition of 2023 and 2024, and Ashdale Got Talent 2022.
Jeffrey has performed at prestigious events, such as for former Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison in 2022 in Perth and the WAGSMS concert at the Crown Theatre in 2023, which had an audience of over 2,000 people. In 2024, he went on a multi-city concert tour in Poland, showcasing his talent to local and international audiences.

Awards, Certifications and Achievements

  • In June 2024, at the 2nd International Piano Competition for Children and Youth, "Paderewski's Piano," in Poland, Jeffrey won the Grand Prize, which is a higher accolade than 1st place. He was also honoured with the special Paderewski award by Prof. M. Zebrowski from Los Angeles and received a special award for his performance of Glinka from Prof. Izabella Darska Havasi, president of the Gyorgy Ferenczy Foundation in Hungary.
  • In June 2024, Jeffrey won 1st prize in the Age 12 and Under Recital and 2nd prize in the Age 10 and under Recital, Overall Junior Best Performer Award, and Premier Bach Award at the West Australian Pianist Competition (WAPC) 2024.
  • In May 2024, Jeffrey achieved an outstanding 4th place in the prestigious 31st International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition for Children and Youth in Poland.

  • In September 2021, he won the 2nd prize at the West Australian Music Teachers Association (WAMTA) Recital & Concerto Music Competition in Grade 3 piano. He donated all cash prizes to the Chin Community to help the people in Myanmar.
  • In May 2021, Jeffrey passed the AMEB Grade 1 exam with the highest distinction (A+).

International and Local Performances

Jeffrey has performed about 45 public performances, including local and international concerts, events, and competitions. Some highlighted performances are:
  • In June 2024, Jeffrey performed a full concert at Aegis Balmoral Aged Care in Como. The continuous performance lasted about 40 minutes.
  • In May 2024, Jeffrey had two concerts at the Capital Center for Cultural Education Centre in Warsaw organised by Dr. Joanna Świtlik (former professor at Fryderyk Chopin University of Music, Warsaw).
  • In May 2024, Jeffrey performed the prestigious Winners' Concert at the 31st International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition for Children and Youth in Szafarnia, Poland.
  • In May 2024, Jeffrey performed a solo concert at Karol Szymanowski Music School in Torun, Poland, organised by Magda Cynk (Honorary Medal of the Mayor of Toruń).
  • In May 2023, Jeffrey showcased his musical talents at the WA Government Schools Music Society (WAGSMS) concert held at the Crown Theatre in Perth, which drew a packed audience of over 2000 people.
  • In April 2023, Jeffrey showed his piano skills at The Piano Artistry 2023 event at Centrestage Recording Studios in Perth. This paid event gathered the most promising young pianists from Western Australia.
  • In April 2022, Jeffrey contributed his musical talents at the celebration and fundraising event for Nobel Peace Prize Winner Daw Aung San Suu Kyi's 77th birthday in Girrawheen. Senator Dean Smith attended this event, and Jeffrey donated all his cash rewards to the Burmese Community.
  • In March 2022, Jeffrey performed a solo piano recital for Prime Minister Scott Morrison at a notable event at the Prime Minister's special meeting with the Burmese diaspora event held at the Jim Satchell Community Centre in Perth, Western Australia.
  • In June 2021, Jeffrey showcased his talent at the Perth Myanmar Community Fundraising Event at the Willetton Sports and Community Centre.
  • In November 2020, Jeffrey had his first piano concert at St Mary's Anglican Church, South Perth.
